Meet the Team

We are a collective of change makers supporting leaders in uncertain times. We work in pairs or teams to help individuals, teams, communities and organizations realize their vision.

My belief is that business can be a vehicle of social change. How we work together in organizations can be powerfully transformative for us personally, those around us, and society too.

Our
Story

We met completing a masters degree in Human Systems Intervention at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Our friendships took time to develop; coming from different backgrounds meant we didn't speak the same languages, even when using the same words! What at first made it difficult to work together, became the glue that strengthened our bonds. We took the time to hear each others' thoughts, ideas and concerns and to appreciate these unique perspectives.

We allowed ourselves to be changed by what we heard, to grow, morph, leave parts of ourselves behind that no longer fit into our expanded worldviews. We learned how to include, respect and challenge one another with care. After graduating, we chose to continue collaborating on 'real world' projects because this way of working enhances the quality and outcomes of our efforts.

Fractal Facilitation is a representation of the applied research and practices that we gleaned from the plurality of our experiences. It is our offering to support leaders, as we support each other, in these uncertain times.

What is a
fractal?

Our name, and how it conveys what we do

Fractals are irregularly shaped, self-repeating patterns. They can be seen throughout nature, including in our own bodies. In our work with individuals and groups, we have noticed that social patterns also recur in fractals across all levels and scales.

Once a pattern becomes apparent in one layer of the system (individual, interpersonal, group, inter-group, organizational, inter-organizational, societal), it can often be spotted in the other layers. This provides a window into potential ways to interrupt those patterns, and to be intentional about the ripples that our actions generate outwards.

In her book, Emergent Strategy, adrienne maree brown says, “we can see our own lives and work and relationships as a front line, a first place we can practice justice, liberation, and alignment with each other and the planet.”

That is what inspires and informs Fractal(e), and our ongoing exploration of working in relationship with each other and beyond.
